Susan’s husband Ian, who was 52, was among the 29 people who died when the military helicopter in which they were travelling from RAF Aldergrove to Inverness in Scotland crashed over the Mull of Kintyre on the 2nd of June 1994. Ian was an RUC officer. Most of the dead were counter intelligence officers. Following a campaign by relatives, the names of the pilots were cleared of responsibility for the crash but its actual cause has never been established. Susan and Ian had a son and a daughter.
