We offer a variety of approaches to suit client needs and choice, including CBT & EMDR therapies, along with Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Integrative approaches.
Tailored services are delivered to people throughout the lifespan, from ages 6 years upwards.
WAVE Counselling operates Monday to Friday from 9am – 5pm in all 5 project centres (Armagh, Ballymoney, Belfast, Derry Londonderry & Omagh). There are also evening appointments available in both our Belfast & Armagh centres (5pm – 8.30pm).
At WAVE, all counselling is free of charge and in accordance with ethical standards (Eg “Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions” – BACP). The first stage of the counselling process will be an initial assessment where you will meet the counsellor and discuss how counselling could be of benefit to you.

Referral sources
If it’s agreed to proceed with counselling, you and the counsellor will review your progress after 6 sessions. The duration of sessions is approx 50 minutes each and there is a maximum of 12 sessions available, though in exceptional circumstances this may be extended.
Referrals to WAVE Counselling are primarily received on the basis of trauma, bereavement, injury or intimidation. However, once a link to the NI conflict is established, referrals can also be made for reasons such as relationships, financial issues, health concerns etc.
Following an initial assessment, up to 12 counselling sessions are available, along with additional sessions in cases of complex trauma and traumatic bereavement.
